Day and night at the Pförti
In the morning the espresso machine hisses; in the evening the glasses clink. The hours in between belong to whatever you need: a breakfast spot, a workspace, a meeting place, an apéro bar. We're a neighbourhood café in Basel's Gellert district, a café bar with apéro culture, and a place where the joy of good food, good drinks and easy company is openly celebrated.
Croffles
Croissant meets waffle iron. From Roastastic Beef to Grand Chocolat, every recipe is our own creation, found only at the Pförtnerhaus.
Breakfast & Brunch
Our Pförti Z'Morge is served Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m., all day long. And once a month we open on a Sunday for the brunch buffet, CHF 39 including a hot drink.

In summer, the garden opens. Aperitivo hour after work, croffles for sun-lovers, crisp salads, Pförtiplättli, and when the heat sets in, a homemade iced tea instead of coffee. Plus our glacier fondue under the open sky, the house mix in the garden. Small and refined, as always.
Event venue right in the Gellert
Looking for a one-of-a-kind space for a workshop, a seminar or a birthday party? At the Pförtnerhaus you'll find the Gallery Room and the Studio Room, historic ambience, daylight, catering from the house. And if you need it mobile, our Croffle Bike comes to you.
About the Pförtnerhaus
The Pförtnerhaus is over a hundred years old. Lovingly renovated, this one-of-a-kind building today hosts a café bar, an event venue and a neighbourhood hub, in the heart of Basel's Gellert, on Hardstrasse 43. Behind it are Diana and Michel Gysin and their crew, hosts by conviction.
